SUMTER — The Santee-Lynches Council of Governments in coordination with SC Works and its business partners will host two job fairs for residents of Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties.


The first job fair will take place on Tuesday, April 28, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Sumter Civic Center located at 700 W. Liberty Street. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open to veterans 30 minutes earlier than the general public.

Many area employers including Becton Dickinson, Georgia Pacific, Pepsi, Sumter County Schools,  SAFE Federal Credit Union, Tuomey Healthcare, Thompson Industrial and almost 60 other employers are expected to participate.


The Camden Job Fair will be held on Thursday, May 7 from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the SC National Guard Armory located at 1100 Ehrenclou Drive in Camden. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open 30 minutes early for veterans.

Participating employers include Invista, Home Depot, Verizon, Powell Valves, South Carolina Department of Public Safety, City of Columbia Fire Department and others.

“Each of these events provide a tremendous opportunity that will enable job seekers and employers to match the supply of skilled individuals with the demand for positions that will improve the economic vitality of our region while simultaneously boosting key quality of life factors,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, executive director, Santee-Lynches Council Governments, that oversees S.C. Works in the Santee-Lynches region.

There is limited space available for additional employers to participate. There is no cost to employers.
